Who is John Galt

Editorial illustration responding to the disappearance of Jack Ma in 2020 following his public criticism of China’s financial system and its pressure on private industry. The work draws a parallel with Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, particularly the idea of a global strike in which society’s key drivers withdraw and disappear into Galt’s Gulch, bringing economic momentum to a halt. Referencing the recurring question “Who is John Galt?”, the illustration reflects on power, absence, and Objectivist thought as both a statement and a provocation.
