This is the third book in the Ultimate-U series by René Suhardono, a career coach and columnist for Kompas daily. The book is a collection of self-development essays, and the client requested a cover that felt simple yet unconventional.

From 2017 to 2021, I illustrated René’s weekly articles for his mailing list and created the interior illustrations for this book. Having regularly engaged with his writing, I often arrived at more contemplative visual interpretations—one of which inspired the final cover concept.

The design uses a bold, solid background featuring a lone figure walking, guided by the light of the moon or sun. This minimal yet symbolic image evokes a quiet, personal journey—subtle enough to reflect the book’s tone, yet striking enough to stand out on bookstore shelves.

The client appreciated the concept, and I offered two versions—black and red. The black version was chosen for its stronger alignment with the book’s introspective nature.
